ABOUT ME

Hello and nice meeting you!

I'm Yuko, an artist and a survivor of a ruptured brain aneurysm. I share art and creative activities as tools for the wellbeing of people and communities.  My mission is to remind us that we are all HUMANS FIRST and we all came here to be LOVE. I do my best to show up everywhere with love, kindness and creativity.

In June 2024, I survived a ruptured brain aneurysm. There were no symptoms or signs that I was aware leading up to it. I woke up with the worst headache of my life. I spent two weeks in the ICU. I made great progress, but in my one year follow-up test, the doctors found another aneurysm. And there’s a stent in my brain and things are looking good so far. I started painting as a way to navigate that healing journey.

This led me to work in the path of Arts in Health; specifically focus on Community Wellbeing, promoting Art as a health activity, and advocating for Economic Stewardship for all. Storytelling, Human centered framework combined with my lived experience, my work contribute to the movement to bring the power of healing and imagination back to people.

Originally from Aomori - 青森, Japan. 

Moved to Los Angeles in 2003, then to New York in 2013. 

​

 

Creating art is just like writing a love letter. Music, Singing, Theatre, Photography, Filmmaking and Painting… Art is a language that speaks humans. Art is an invitation. Art is a way for us to connect and to heal. Art is us. And we are all artists in our own unique way.
